Case Study: Chalet Bungalow Renovation in Bedfordshire

Incorporating MVHR into a home to create a healthier, more comfortable living space.

“In May of 2021, after three years of planning, we started our extensive home renovation in our 1960’s chalet bungalow. our vision was to create a sustainable, well insulated, whole house ventilation system and carbon zero home using an air source heat-pump with Solar PV.

To elevate the poor air quality and inconsistent temperature within our home, we gained advice from Rega Vent and decided to invest in a Rega home energy-efficient ventilation system; type 250R DC central air unit, Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system throughout the entire home. Rega Vent designed a customised solution tailored to our house layout and specific needs.

The implementation of the MVHR system has transformed our home into a healthier, more comfortable living space with long-term benefits in terms of energy efficiency, cost savings, and overall well-being. Our experience serves as a testament to the effectiveness of MVHR systems in enhancing indoor environments and improving the quality of the air and the constant temperature within our home.

We can only express our utmost satisfaction from the initial consultation to the final installation and can highly commend the Rega Vent Solutions’ team for their expertise and attention to detail. But mostly for making our investment with the MVHR system worthwhile.”

-Dawn and Michael Perry (Clients)

We recently completed an MVHR installation in a chalet bungalow renovation. The design and installation were made simpler by the eaves space that spanned most of the property. This meant that the unit and duct runs could be hidden within this space, giving us access to most of the rooms. We utilized the space between the rafters for the upstairs rooms and dropped ducts through the ceiling for the downstairs access. We installed the unit above a bathroom which provided us with a location for the unit’s condensation to be drained away.

Prioritizing Quiet

To ensure a peaceful living environment, we started the duct runs with our acoustic ducting. This minimized noise transfer throughout the system.

Aesthetics Matter

Our customer opted for white metal valves that complemented their white spotlights, creating a clean and modern aesthetic throughout the ventilated rooms.

Final Touches

After the house was finished with plasterboard and electrical power was connected, we returned to install the valves and commission the entire MVHR system. The result: a well-ventilated, energy-efficient home with a discreet and visually pleasing MVHR system.
